Our Intermediate Computer course expands on
concepts introduced in the Basic Computing course. Using
Microsoft Word, students will incorporate more advanced
layout techniques to create charts, print labels, business
cards and envelopes. Other word processing exercises include
resumes, calendars, posters and greeting cards.
As the course progresses, students will learn
to store, organize, move and copy files within their computer
and find "lost files". Students will then be introduced
to the world of digital cameras and digital imaging. Practice
exercises include removing red-eye, enhancing colour, cropping
cutting and pasting photographs.
The course concludes with a "show and
tell" session which demonstrates common, home computer
procedures such as changing display, mouse and keyboard,
e-mail and Internet settings. Students are also shown how
to "burn" music CD's and "back up" files
from their hard drive to CD ROM's. This final session also
offers students the opportunity to ask questions pertaining
to their own personal computer configuration.
